Check out these upcoming events and classes on mushroom identification, cultivation, edibility, cooking, and more. Some of these events are held at our warehouse in Grand Rapids, or our farm in Saranac/Ionia, as well as libraries, garden clubs, schools, and more around West Michigan and the Lansing area.

Fungus: Friend, Food, and Medicine @ Camp Compost

August 15-17 Central Lake, MI

Camp Compost is a weekend convention of soil nerd, compost and gardening freaks and aficionados and more. With a whole bunch of speaker and presentations it's an excellent opportunity to learn and connect with similar folks, while also getting away to camp in the norther reaches of the Lower Peninsula.

I'm thrilled to provide this brief introduction to the role of fungi in human development and medicine, both ancient and modern.

From antibiotics to food to remediation of toxic industrial pollutants, fungi are the most underappreciated kingdom of life. Creating our soils, fermenting our foods, bolstering human immunity, and worshipped since ancient times for their potential spiritual significance and mystery.
